Working across every discipline our mechanical engineers put all of ASML’s expertise into action by designing and building our high-performance systems. As a mechanical engineer, you will design and create a module from scratch and see your ideas mature into a real operational system at our customer sites. You will do this while working with a diverse set of talented technologists as you continually develop new skills across the business.

Our mechanical engineering teams are responsible for pulling together the expertise of every company department and building it into our world-leading machines. We’re the interface between every discipline at ASML, from physics and electronics to materials and contamination.
It’s a hands-on career where you will get the opportunity to design, create and work with the cutting-edge machinery that feeds the world’s electronics industry. For example, you may need to push the boundaries of physics to invent an intricate optics system. Or design a high-level framework for a new tooling machine. Or create a high-precision sensor to push Moore’s law to its limit.
This is not routine mechanical engineering. This is mechanical engineering in the extreme. We do things that no one has ever done before. In extreme environments that do not exist anywhere else in the world. So we need creative problem solvers.
Inside our machines, you need to design systems able to cope with a combination of high speed robotics with incredibly high accuracy, liquid metals, high temperatures, flammable gases, vacuum systems, and heavy-duty lasers. You will need to constantly devise new, creative solutions to balance the functionality of our complex systems and ensure their longevity.
The smaller chips become, the bigger our machines need to be, creating even more engineering challenges. You may be tasked with working out the best way to build our machines so they can be transported halfway around the world, or how to ensure critical parts are positioned to be easy to repair or replace. These are the sort of real-world problems you will have to resolve every day.

You have a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, or a combination of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, Opto-mechanics, Flow & Temperature, Materials, Industrialization.
